After several months of intensive work, the Medical University of Bialystok launched an English-language mobile application dedicated to foreign students, as well as guests and scientists coming to our university from foreign academic centres.

The International Cooperation Department is responsible for all activities related to the preparation of the mobile application, as well as its update on regular basis. The application was created under the direct supervision of the Rector's Plenipotentiary for International Cooperation, prof. dr hab. Tomasz Hryszko.

The application is available in versions for Android and IOS. It is possible to download the application from the dedicated landing page, as well as directly from the Google Play and AppStore (links below).

In the USA and Western Europe, mobile applications are now a standard tool of communication with students, as well as a modern form of university promotion. In our country, mobile applications are not so widespread yet, but more and more universities decide to create them.

The growing number of foreign students and the intensification of internationalisation processes at the Medical University of Bialystok were an impulse to initiate work on the creation of the mobile application. Important premise for the creation of the first mobile application in the history of the university was to meet the needs of current and future foreign students. It is worth mentioning that this is the first mobile application dedicated to foreign students among universities in Białystok.

The main goal of the newly created mobile application is to improve the comfort of studying for foreign students at our university, as well as faster integration with the entire academic community of MUB. In particular, the application is meant to make it easier for new students to navigate the campus of the university and Białystok, as well as to obtain the most important information about the university and English-language studies.

In addition to simplicity of use and quick and easy access to functionality, the application is distinguished by a simple and aesthetic graphic design, showing MUB as a modern and open university, following the trends. The colours of all elements in the application are consistent with the university's logo.

The mobile application consists of 12 modules, among which you can find typical informational modules, as well as special modules. The most important functionalities include:

    - interactive map of the MUB campus based on internet map services (depending on the version of the application - Google Maps or Apple Maps). Campus map has been marked with university buildings and hospitals, faculties, dormitories, as well as nearby service points, e.g. restaurants, copy centres or hotels. Each point has an identification card containing basic contact details with the possibility of direct navigation to the indicated place.

    - currency exchange calculator, where it is possible to convert EUR, USD, GBP, NOK (Norwegian krone) and SEK (Swedish krona) into PLN and vice versa. The module automatically downloads the current exchange rate from the National Bank of Poland website,

    - a day plan management tool integrated with the phone calendar,

    - module for automatic download of news from the university's English website.

In addition, the application is a compendium of knowledge about the university, its history, the Branicki Palace, recruitment process for English-language studies and student organisations. Students will also find full contact details for dean's offices and administration departments, as well as valuable information on legalisation of stay, health care and public transport.

The application also presents information about Bialystok, its monuments and interesting places to see, as well as city murals. In addition, there are lists of the most important offices, police stations and post offices.

Due to the fact that the mobile application contains information about Bialystok, Podlaskie voivodeship and other general matters, it can also be useful for Polish students of the Medical University of Bialystok, as well as for students of other universities located in Bialystok.

Thanks to the rich collection of photos sent by the participants of the Photography Contest "Rajskie Podlaskie", the application has been enriched with beautiful photos of Podlaskie landscapes and monuments. Organisation of the competition was possible thanks to funds from the "Welcome to Poland" programme of the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange.

The MyMUB mobile app will also serve a promotional function. It will be MUB's showcase, which will attract potential candidates for English-language studies at MUB, in particular in the field of medicine, as well as scientists and lecturers from foreign academic centres to come to MUB.
