It provides funding for a scholarship covering the cost of living associated with a stay in a foreign host centre and a mobility allowance. Participation in this scholarship programme is a big step in the scientific development of each scholarship holder, an opportunity to gain valuable international contacts and publications in prestigious journals. In addition, it is worth highlighting its impact on the growth of internationalisation of the university.

Dr Kusaczuk is an assistant at the Department of Pharmaceutical Biochemistry at MUB, and her scientific activity is mainly concerned with the study of substances of natural and synthetic origin as potential pharmacotherapeutics in the treatment of glioblastoma multiforme of the brain.

The Bekker programme scholarship holder will conduct research at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid (Spain) for a period of 4 months, i.e. from 1 March to 1 July 2021. In turn, the number of citations of his works is 13,327, and the Hirsch index is 40.

Within the framework of the scholarship, the Doctor will be implementing the project "Effect of cannabinoids on glioblastoma epigenetic modifications", whose main goal is to study the effect of cannabinoids and selected epigenetic modulators on inhibiting the proliferation of glioblastoma cells in vitro, as well as to determine the interaction between therapeutics, which is a key aspect in determining possible combination therapies.
