Another edition of the National Food and Drink Party, an event organised by the IFMSA-Poland Białystok, is behind us. On 25 March, international students doing their internships at UMB were able to treat themselves to a variety of dishes from around the world. The event took place at the student club CoNieCo. The food tasting was also attended by interns from Hamamatsu University School of Medicine from Japan who are doing their month-long internship at the university.

The National Food and Drink Party was not only an opportunity to sample dishes from different parts of the world, but also a perfect example of how, despite cultural and culinary differences, we can build an open, close-knit community, share traditions and spend time together. The whole event was organised by the Exchanges team from IFMSA-Poland Białystok Branch, consisting of: Mateusz Szapiel - Local Coordinator for Clinical Practices, Małgorzata Szeląg - Local Coordinator for Scientific Exchanges and Katarzyna Pogorzelska - Assistant Local Coordinator for Scientific Exchanges.

The International Federation of Medical Students' Associations IFMSA-Poland is an organisation for medical students throughout Poland. It provides them with the opportunity to gain valuable work experience, participate in overseas internisp and academic exchanges, and develop their ability to work together in an international environment. At the moment, IFMSA-Poland Bialystok can boast of admitting 11 students in season 24/25 (April 2024-March 2025) under the Permanent Scientific Exchange Programme and 51 under the Permanent Clinical Practice Programme, which ranks 2nd in the country in terms of both programmes. Nearly 30 students are going to countries such as Korea, Japan, Brazil and Thailand from both programmes this year.

In addition, Małgorzata Szeląg, Local Coordinator for Academic Exchange, received the Zbigniew Ehrmann Award at the 53rd Delegate Assembly for her work on behalf of outgoing students - the highest accolade one can receive within the Association.

Congratulations to the IFMSA Team for a successful event and the successes so far!
