Prof. Artur Bossowski (head of the Department of Pediatrics, Endocrinology, Diabetology with Cardiology) joined the Substantive Council of the TeleSerce - social campaign.
The aim of the campaign is to build a broad coalition of experts in various fields who will show polish patients telemedicine from many perspectives. Specialists want to convince people that telemedicine is definitely more than a phone call to the clinic.
Cardiology specialists alarm that due to the pandemic, patients with a heart attack or other life-threatening condition are afraid to go to the hospital. It also turned out that not all patients can cope with tele- or video-medical consultations.
Prof. Bossowski and his team won the competition "Telemedicine in Children's Hospitals of the Future". The winning project ("TelePrzyjeciele od Serca") was used in the diagnosis of cardiac arrhythmias in children and adolescents. Telemedicine devices and remote cardiac monitoring were used for this. Thanks to it, the youngest patients of the hospital in Bialystok can count on long-term and minimally invasive ECG monitoring, which allows to increase the detection of existing disorders and accelerate the process of excluding the cardiogenic background. On the other hand, the quality of physicians' work is also improved, as they have the possibility of accelerated selection of generated research materials. What is more, it minimizes the number of people staying in the hospital, which is especially important in the times of a pandemic.
