    Prof. Maciej Szmitkowski appointed by the Minister of Health as Poland's representative to the European working group under the Health Security Committee (HSC)

    Professor Maciej Szmitkowski was appointed by the Minister of Health as a representative of Poland to the European working group under the Health Security Committee (HSC), to participate in the work on rapid antigen tests as well as on updating the new procedure of the common RAT list (Rapid Antigen Tests). Prof. Szmitkowski is also a member of the AOTMiT expert group developing the Polish "Recommendations for the diagnosis and treatment of COVID 19".

     

     

    Professor Maciej Szmitkowski has been a national consultant in the field of laboratory diagnostics since 2014, and in the years 1984-2014 he was a voivodeship consultant. He was the dean and twice the vice-dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, founder and head of the Department of Biochemical Diagnostics in 1984 - 2018. He was the supervisor of 17 doctoral theses, and in this period 10 people obtained the degree of habilitated doctor and 3 people the title of professor. The professor's scientific achievements currently include 466 scientific papers in journals, Impact Factor over 400 and Index Hirsch is 30. Prof. Szmitkowski was and is a member of the boards of the main scientific societies, commissions and committees of the Polish Academy of Sciences, the laureate of 9 awards of the Minister of Health, including for the entirety of his achievements and over 60 awards of MUB’s Rector. He has implemented numerous grants from the State Committee for Scientific Research and the Ministry of Science and Higher Education. He completed 4 research internships abroad. He is an honorary member of the Polish Society for Laboratory Diagnostics. He was twice decorated with the Gold Cross of Merit, the Gold Medal for Long Service, awards for contributions to Healthcare and for exemplary work in the Health Service, and the highest "Sapere Aude" award from the National Chamber of Laboratory Diagnosticians.
