By the decision of the President of the Republic of Poland of June 17, 2021, Marta Eliza Płońska-Brzezińska was awarded the academic title of professor in the discipline of chemical sciences. The procedure for awarding the title was conducted in a new procedure directly at the Council of Scientific Excellence.
Prof. dr hab. Marta E. Płońska-Brzezińska is a graduate of two fields of study: Chemistry (University of Białystok) and Environmental Engineering (Białystok University of Technology). Prof. Marta Płońska-Brzezińska received her PhD in Chemistry in 2005 (University of Białystok), and her postdoctoral degree in 2014 at the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań. For this achievement, she was awarded the 1st degree award by the Minister of Science and Higher Education (2015). For almost 20 years she was an employee of the University of Bialystok, and since 2018 she has been employed at the Medical University of Bialystok and heads the Department of Organic Chemistry (Faculty of Pharmacy).
Prof. Marta Płońska-Brzezińska is the author of 75 publications with a total Impact Factor 246 and the author or co-author of 2 patents, including an international one. The number of citations is about 1650 and the Hirsch Index - 24. In her research, prof. Płońska-Brzezińska deals with such issues as the synthesis of nanomaterials, mainly carbon and polymer ones, with strictly defined physicochemical and biological properties and their use in electrochemistry, catalysis, pharmaceutical and medical sciences.
