The Medical University of Bialystok has signed a cooperation agreement with the Sorbonne Université under which the doctorate cotutelle of Krzysztof Drygalski will be conducted. The agreement concluded between the MUB Doctoral School and l'École Doctorale 394 Physiologie, Physiopathologie et Thérapeutique means that the doctoral thesis is written under the supervision of two supervisors: Polish and French, and the combined doctorate is being developed simultaneously at two universities. On the part of MUB, the promoters are: prof. Adam Krętowski and dr Katarzyna Siewko, and on the side of the Sorbonne dr Isabelle Dugail, a world-renowned expert in the field of energy metabolism, insulin resistance and adipose tissue remodeling.
Doctorate thesis "The impact of extracellular matrix and its remodeling on the metabolism of adipose tissue in the pathogenesis of insulin resistance and type 2 diabetes" is financed under the 2019 Diamond Grant and for the last two years has been carried out at the Medical Research Center of the Medical University of Bialystok.
The cotutelle agreement, like the codirection, is one of the forms of co-conducting the doctoral dissertation process by various universities. It provides a unique opportunity to raise the profile of doctoral dissertation, work in international research groups and obtain a double diploma, which may be particularly important for further scientific development.
