By the decision of the President of the Republic of Poland of August 1, 2022, Katarzyna Taranta-Janusz received the academic title of professor of medical sciences and health sciences in the discipline of medical sciences.
Katarzyna Taranta-Janusz graduated from the Faculty of Medicine of the Medical Academy in Białystok. She is a specialist in paediatrics and pediatric nephrology.
She started her scientific and professional work at the I Children's Diseases Department under the supervision of prof. Walentyna Zoch-Zwierz, then prof. Anna Wasilewska. In 2010 she completed doctoral studies with a doctoral degree in medical sciences on the basis of a doctoral dissertation entitled "Metalloproteinases 2 and 9 and their tissue inhibitors 1 and 2 in the serum and urine of children with vesicoureteral outflow". She received her postdoctoral degree in 2015, based on the series of publications: "Early markers of kidney damage in children with urinary tract defects".
From January 1, 2022. prof. Katarzyna Taranta-Janusz is the deputy head of the Department of Paediatrics and Nephrology at the Medical University of Bialystok. Since 2021, she has been a consultant in the field of pediatric nephrology in the Podlaskie Voivodeship.
The scientific achievements of prof. Katarzyna Taranta-Janusz include 69 papers, with a total score of MEiN - 5135 and IF - 139.602; Hirsch index -13. Prof. Katarzyna Taranta-Janusz participated in multi-center studies: 5 international and 8 domestic, the results of which were published in national and foreign scientific journals. She is the promoter of 3 doctoral dissertations. Her achievements also include co-authorship of 97 reports presented at national and international scientific conferences.
