On May 31, 2023, at the Euroregional Pharmacy Center of the Medical University of Bialystok, a conference summarizing the joint project of MUB and 2nd Secondary School in Bialystok entitled "Drug factory - from idea to product".
Project participants had a chance to gain knowledge in the field of chemistry, biology and pharmacy in MUB laboratories, acquire teamwork competences in the context of the work environment, stimulate their creativity, develop critical thinking, learning and problem solving skills and acquire ICT competences by using the software used by pharmacists .
After expanding their theoretical knowledge, during classes in laboratories, they learned, among others, drug synthesis. Project participants produced, for example, aspirin. As the project manager, dr hab. Michał Tomczyk - head of the Department of Pharmacognosy of the Medical University of Bialystok said- the formula of the classes worked perfectly. Young people verified their ideas about chemistry and drugs in real working conditions with modern research equipment. MUB Vice-Rector for Education, prof. Chabowski congratulated on the successful completion of the project and invited young people to study at MUB.
As part of the project, three editions of practical classes and experiments were carried out in the period from June 1, 2019 to May 31, 2023.
The project was implemented in partnership with the City of Białystok, which is the governing body of the 2nd Secondary School in Białystok.
Project "Drug factory - from idea to product" was co-financed by the European Union from the European Social Fund under the Operational Program Knowledge Education Development 2014-2020.
