10 teams (of seven people), 12 competitions planned (a little less took place), lots of emotions, fun and smiles - that's the MUB Olympic Games in a nutshell, i.e. the sporting celebrations of the 75th Jubilee of the founding of our University.
The idea behind the event was to return to the school ‘Olympics’ held in years gone by - team competitions testing fitness, speed, endurance, marksmanship, but also team cooperation. For this reason, the MUB Olympic Games featured a variety of obstacle courses, accuracy and speed tasks, and spectacular ball jumps.
This was the plan, so that the 75th Jubilee of the University was not just about academies and recollections of beautiful events from history, but also to bring you together, so that you also feel part of this event,' said Rector Prof. Marcin Moniuszko to the participants of the Olympic Games.
The official part was short, so the first competition was immediately ordered: the hockey slalom. The victory went to the Friends of the MUB Choir team. And it was clear that, although it was only supposed to be fun, the competition was very serious. The judges had to use video analysis (cellphone footage was checked) to determine the winners in some competitions.
Ten teams of seven people made up of students, faculty and staff of the University, our alumni and friends applied. The participants do not know what kind of competition awaits them; they could not prepare for it beforehand. They find out what awaits them literally moments before the start,' explained Bartosz Tuchliński, President of KU AZS MUB.
The slalom was followed by a giant ball carrying competition in pairs, then a ball jumping race, a team hula hoop, an impressive team run, an incredibly exciting tug-of-war, a fitness course and accuracy throws.
All in all, three hours of competition and fun. In addition, it was possible to perform a body composition analysis or assess grip strength. Dr Zofia Dzięcioł-Anikiej (Precision Physical Activity Research Laboratory, MUB Clinical Research Centre, MUB Department of Rehabilitation) and Physiotherapy student Julia Ziembińska took care of the competitors' warm-up before the competition, as well as stretching and calming down after the competition.
