New President-elect of the Polish Association for Study of Liver - Prof. Dariusz Lebensztejn
Professor Dariusz Lebensztejn is a respected specialist in paediatrics, gastroenterology and paediatric gastroenterology. He heads the Department of Paediatrics, Gastroenterology, Hepatology, Nutrition, Allergology and Pulmonology at the Medical University of Bialystok. For years, he has been actively working for the development of paediatric hepatology and gastroenterology in Poland.
What challenges does the President-elect of the Polish Association for Study of Liver face in the term 2025 -2028?
The Association is growing rapidly and in my opinion the current term should be a continuation of the previous Board. The President-elect will cooperate with the President and other members of the Board of the Polish Association for Study of Liver of the current term in the implementation of the Association's statutory goals - this will be the time of introduction to the Association's activities, cooperation with other members of the Board and gaining organisational experience which, I hope, will bear fruit in the future term - assesses Prof. Lebensztejn and adds: 'The most important thing is people - the Association's members; therefore, I will encourage doctors of various specialities to join the ranks of the Polish Association for Study of Liver, including paediatricians and paediatric gastroenterologists, of course. I will undoubtedly get involved in creating the substantive programmes of subsequent the Polish Association for Study of Liver conferences, preparing the Association's positions on the diagnosis and treatment of various liver pathologies and initiating scientific cooperation between centres. I think it will be a good initiative to organise training courses for young doctors concerning not only the dissemination of medical knowledge, but also the methodology of scientific research," says the Professor.
Professor Dariusz Lebensztejn also serves as President of the Polish Society of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Child Nutrition (PTGHiŻD) for the term 2023-2026 and as Vice-Dean for Student Affairs of the Faculty of Medicine at the Medical University of Bialystok.
