Call for Applications: Group Leader Position
The Medical University of Bialystok (Poland) is inviting ambitious researchers to apply for a full-time, independent Group Leader (Principal Investigator) position in medical sciences, health sciences, epidemiology, regenerative medicine, translational research, immunology or molecular biology.
- Contract type: Full-time, fixed-term (12 months with 12 month extension after fulfilling the milestones, future tenure positions employment possible)

About the Position
We are offering a unique opportunity to lead your own independent research within an internationally-oriented and forward-thinking institution. The Medical University of Bialystok is investing in scientific excellence and innovation, focusing on strategic priority areas such as civilization disorders, personalized medicine, precision medicine, translational medicine, basic sciences (including inflammation and immunology, metabolism, regenerative medicine).
We welcome candidates at two career stages:
- Junior Group Leaders (JGL) – postdoctoral researchers with a promising track record and high potential for independence
- Senior Group Leaders (SGL) – established researchers with a solid record of achievements and the ability to lead and inspire a research team

What You'll Do
- Develop and lead an independent research group
- Supervise PhD students and/or postdoctoral researchers
- Apply for national and international research grants (e.g., Horizon Europe, ERC, MCSA, NCN, NCBB, FNP, ABM)
- Actively collaborate within and beyond the University
- Publish high-quality research in peer-reviewed journals
What We Offer

Who We’re Looking For
- Minimum qualifications:
- PhD in life sciences, medical sciences, or a related field
- Strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals (JCR-indexed)
- Proven international research experience and ability to work independently
- Fluent English communication skills
- Additional expectations:
- For Senior Group Leaders: experience in team management and grant success
- For Junior Group Leaders: demonstrated research independence and strong postdoctoral training
- A clear, innovative research plan aligned with MUB’s strategic Focus
