    RECTOR'S WELCOME

I am very pleased to welcome you to the Medical University of Białystok, where it is an exciting time to be studying the health sciences.  Spectacular new facilities are being developed, and our curriculum is changing to incorporate new knowledge, new technology, and innovative teaching methods.

The University currently has over 4,000 students, studying in both Polish and English, across fourteen various degree programs, taught by over 730 members of our highly qualified medical and pharmacy faculty.  Our teaching departments provide the excellent academic and supportive environment necessary to equip students with a high level of theoretical knowledge and practical training, essential for future physicians.  Aside from the normal course of studies, many research opportunities exist within the teaching departments as a result of the University's broad program of international cooperation.

Currently, the Medical University of Bialystok has embarked on an ambitious expansion of the campus facilities, including the construction of two state of the art buildings for Pharmacy and for Health Sciences, in addition to a complete modernization of the main university hospital.  In recent years many of the didactic and clinical facilities have been renovated, and the University has purchased new didactic and scientific equipment for the teaching departments to directly enhance students' learning experience.

Our campus is extremely unique as it combines the basic science departments, university hospitals, administrative offices, dormitories, library, cafeteria, and athletic facilities in one central location, all available within a short walking distance from each other.  This is a distinct advantage that helps our busy students save their precious time.  There are two beautiful parks adjacent to the campus, which offer students an ideal place to relax and unwind after a long day's work.

Bialystok is also home to several other academic institutions, including the University of Bialystok, the Polytechnic University, the Institute of Political Sciences, the Musical Academy, and a number of other colleges, providing an excellent atmosphere to fully embrace both academic and student life.  The city also offers several modern shopping centers, cinemas, restaurants, and cafes, in addition to many outdoor activities thanks to the several forests and lakes in the surrounding area.

Altogether, the Medical University of Bialystok offers ideal conditions for studying and living. Please browse the website to discover more details about our programs and I cordially invite you to apply at our University.

    Regards,

    Professor Jacek Nikliński, MD, Ph.D
