On 18 April 2024, the Medical University of Bialystok had the honour of hosting the Conference of Rectors of Universities.
The meeting was held in the heart of the Białowieża Forest - Białowieża. We hosted 15 Rectors or Deputy Rectors, and during the second session we were joined by invited guests: Undersecretary of State in the Ministry of Health, Dr Marek Kos, together with the Director of the Department of Medical Staff Development, Prof. Mariusz Klencki and the Director of the Department of Investment Assessment, Dr Krzysztof Różanowski, acting President of the Medical Research Agency, Dr Rafał Staszewski, Director of the Podlaskie Voivodeship Branch of the National Health Fund, Wojciech Kuźmicki, and Natalia Wojciechowska, representing the Polish Chamber of Books.
Topics discussed during the meeting included: accreditation of the World Federation for Medical Education (WFME), biobanking and the use of material collected from clinical trial participants in ABM projects, postgraduate training in medical analytics. KRAUM members also read the reports of: University Committee on the Quality of Medical Education and the Committee on Science at KRAUM.
The meeting in Białowieża was also an excellent opportunity to showcase our region - the Białowieża Forest, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and home to a plethora of flora and fauna, including European bison, deer and countless bird species.
The next session of the KRAUM is scheduled for June in Sopot.
