    Prof. dr hab. Ewa Olszewska from the MUB Department of Otolaryngology chaired the session "Women in Sleep Medicine"

    In this session, the lecturers were exclusively women. This was the only session of its kind at the conference of the International Academy of Sleep Disorders and the Ibero-American Society of Sleep Surgery, which was held in Panama from 14-17 April 2024.
    The one and a half hour session included four lectures and a Round Table discussion. Dr Carolina De Paula Soaes from Brazil gave a presentation, entitled "The Comorbidity of Insomia and Sleep Apnea. Comorbity of Insomia and Sleep Apnea- New trends," Prof Natalie Aisenberg from France - "Sleep and Pregnancy," Dr Jolie Crespo from Panama - "Diagnosis and treatment - "What are the differences between men and women?" and Prof. Ewa Olszewska - "Statements on Snoring and Obstructive Sleep Apnea: Consensus among European Experts."
    The Round Table Discussion then provided answers to the following questions posed to the panel antendees by Professor Ewa Olszewska:
    1. Why are Women with snoring and OSA Underrecognized?
    2. Is snoring in OSA a male condition?
    3. Do Women Have a Different OSA?
    4. Are there Gender Differences in Sleep Architecture and Arousal?
    5. Are there Gender Differences in Upper Airways Anatomy and Physiology?
    6. Are there Gender Differences in Hormones?
    7. Are there Gender Differences in Aging? 8. Are there Gender Differences in morbidity?
    9. Are there Gender Differences in Treatment implications?
    This session attracted a large number of participants and was considered one of the most interesting during the conference.
