Attendance is mandatory for students in all types of classes (both in-person and online).
The course Immunology consists of lectures (20 hours), seminars (10 hours), and practical classes (15 hours). Lectures and seminars are delivered online via the Blackboard educational platform. Practical classes are conducted in person in the classrooms specified in the Schedule.
Students are required to wear indoor shoes during practical classes, and outerwear must be left in the student cloakroom.
Unexcused absences from classes are not permitted.
Absences may be excused on the basis of a medical certificate, a dean’s leave/permission of absence, or a written statement regarding unforeseen circumstances. The justification must be submitted to the head of the unit within 7 days of the cessation of the circumstances causing the absence. Absences from practical classes may be made up with the class instructor before the scheduled date of the test, during consultation hours.
Arriving more than 15 minutes late is considered an absence.
Course completion requirements:
a. Students participate in classes according to their assigned groups. In exceptional cases, a student may attend classes with another group, provided that approval is obtained from the instructor at least one day before the scheduled class.
b. Students are expected to be adequately prepared and actively participate in classes.
c. Taking photos, recording, eating, or drinking during classes is strictly prohibited.
d. Course completion is based on passing two written tests.
e. The dates of the tests will be announced on the website of the Department of Clinical Immunology.
f. Only students who have attended all lectures, seminars, and practical classes scheduled before the test are eligible to take it. An unexcused absence from practical classes excludes a student from participation in the test.
g. Absences from tests are excused in accordance with point 5.
h. Each test consists of 30 multiple-choice questions. The scope of the material will be announced on the Department’s website.
i. A test is passed with at least 60% correct answers (18 points or more).
j. Students are entitled to one retake of a test, at a date agreed with the Group Representative or determined by the instructor (in the absence of an agreement).
k. If a student fails both tests, they will be allowed to take a final qualifying test before the examination session, at a date agreed with the Group Representative or determined by the instructor (in the absence of an agreement). The qualifying test covers the material of both partial tests.
l. An unexcused absence from a test results in a failing grade (0 points).A student who has not completed all required classes will not be admitted to the examination session.
Final examination:
a. Admission to the final examination requires successful completion of all required tests.
b. The final examination consists of 50 multiple-choice questions covering the material delivered during lectures, seminars, and practical classes.
c. A passing grade requires at least 62% correct answers (31 points or more).
d. Two retake opportunities for the final examination will be scheduled during the winter resit examination session.
e. Grading scale for the final examination:
Very Good – 5.0 (47–50 points)
More than Good – 4.5 (43–46 points)
Good – 4.0 (39–42 points)
Fairly Good – 3.5 (35–38 points)
Satisfactory – 3.0 (31–34 points)
Unsatisfactory – 2.0 (30 points or fewer)
Students are entitled to two resit examinations. Each resit examination is conducted in the same format as the original examination.
Failure to attend an examination or resit examination without an excuse results in a failing grade.
The rules for excusing absences from examinations and resit examinations are defined in the University Study Regulations.
The results of tests and examinations will be made available to students within 14 days of their administration via the Blackboard platform.
Students have the right to review their written work during the semester in the presence of the head of the unit or a person designated by them.
If a student is found to possess or use unauthorized materials during a test/examination, their assessment is immediately terminated, resulting in a score of 0/failing grade, without the possibility of a retake. Details on unauthorized assistance are defined in the University Study Regulations and the Rector’s Ordinance.
In matters not covered by these Regulations, the provisions of the Regulations of First-Cycle, Second-Cycle, and Uniform Master’s Degree Studies at the Medical University of Białystok shall apply.
