    Regulations of the course

    5th year, Faculty of Medicine – English Division

    Pediatric Surgery Department

    Forms of training:

    Clinical classes – 31 hrs – in 6-person groups

    • The presence in all classes is mandatory to get a credit in pediatric surgery.
    • In case of justified absence (sick leave, dean’s leave) student is obliged to complete the subject of classes finally at the end of the semester with the given lecturer/assistant.
    • Unjustified absence hinders the passing of training and semester; student can work off the course in pediatric surgery with another group.

    -During classes the students are intended to get familiar both with theory as well as with the basic pediatric surgical activities, like physical examination, changing dressings, observing procedures, assisting in the operations etc.

    -An appropriate theoretical homework before classes is strongly recommended.

    -Any additional student’s activity directed to acquire pediatric surgical abilities is welcome.

    -The credit for the pediatric surgery course in each semester is obtained after the completion of training and it is recorded in students’ credit book.

    Lectures – conducted at the same time for all students of the 5th year – 14 hrs

    Semester X,

    The classes and lectures are held in the seminar room of the Department of Pediatric Surgery, University Children’s Hospital, according to the time schedule.

    According to the Study Regulations attendance at lectures is mandatory for all students.

    Completion of the course:

    The prerequisite requirements for the implementation of the didactic classes at the unit and a way of final evaluation

    - all students are obliged to complete a 1-week block of pediatric surgery labs (28hrs) and six 2-hours lectures on pediatric surgery

    - The Final Test Result (>60% positive answers – credit)

    1. Final test

    • Is scheduled in the end of clinical classes.
      - Form of the test – “best of four” multiple choice test.
    • Number of questions – 10.
    • Maximal number of points – 10.

    3. Final test grade 

    The following grades are given for examination:

    - unsatisfactory (fail) (2): 0-6

    - satisfactory (3): 7

    - good (4): 8

    - very good (5): 9-10

    4. Repeat tests – dates are assigned with assistant
