    Regulations

     

    Regulations of the didactics in Dermatology and Venereology

    4th academic year English division 2023/2024

     

    1. Classes are held according to the schedule established by the Dean of the Medical Faculty of the Medical University of Bialystok approved by the Faculty Council.

     

    Lectures: 26 hours – for all students.

          • Lectures are held in 7th semester (Mondays, 12:40-14:10 p.m.), online on Blackboard
          • According to the regulations of studies, presence of students in lectures is obligatory

    Clinical classes and seminars:

    • 45 hours
    • Seminars: 14 hours
    • Clinical classes take place in 8th semester in Dermatology and Venereology Department.
    • Duration of clinical classes: 2 weeks

    8.00 – 12.30 a.m. (9 days)

    8.00 – 11.45 a.m. (10 day)

    • According to the regulations of studies, attending all classes is mandatory.

     

    1. Prior to the start of the class, bags and other personal items (overcoats) should be left in the student locker room.
    2. During all classes it is obligatory to change shoes and have your own clean medical gowns, disposable gloves, protective masks.
    3. The student is obliged to come to classes on time.
    4. Every absence must be excused by a medical certificate or other certificate signed by the Dean presented to the assistant within 7 days of the end of the exemption period. Documents submitted after this date will not be honored. The student is also obliged to make up the absence and passed with his assistant or with another group at the latest by the end of the given semester.
    5. Students may take substantive consultations (once monthly, last Tuesday 12.30-14.00 p.m.) after individual agreement with assistant.
    6. Clinical classes are evaluated after the end of each week.
    7. At the end of the classes (after two weeks) there is an oral practical exam.

     

    • Practical examination is oral and covers three fields of skills:
      1. examination of the patient (taking history, description of skin lesions) and differential diagnosis of skin lesions
      2. structure and physiology of the skin
      3. symptoms of skin diseases and sexually transmitted infections

     

     

    1. Only students who passed the practical examination will enter the final test exam.
    2. Theoretical final exam in the form of a written test takes place during the summer exam session. There is no exemption from the dermatology and venereology exam.
    3. The final test consists of 90 questions and lasts 90 minutes.
    • The following grades are given for examination:

    satisfactory (3,0) - >/= 60% correct answers (54-62 questions)

    fairly good (3,5) - >/= 70% correct answers (63-71 questions)

    good (4,0) - >/= 80% correct answers (72-78 questions)

    better than good (4,5) -  >/=88% correct answers (79-84 questions)

    very good (5,0) - >/= 94% correct answers (85-90 questions)

     

    • In the case of 50 - 53 correct answers the final grade will consist of: the lecture attendance records as well as evaluation of the clinical classes and practical examination results.
    • In the case of 47 - 49 correct answers the students have to enter the oral examination in the same examination session.
    • In the case of less than 46 correct answers student fails the exam and has to retake it.

     

    1. The results of the test exam will be announced within one week on the Department's website in the form of a table containing the album number and the grade obtained.
    2. The student has the right to view the examination test within one week from the date of the test examination results announcement.
    1. The retake exam will held by the coordinator of English Division in Dermatology and Venereology Department or dedicated assistant.
