Regulations of the didactics in Dermatology and Venereology
4th academic year English division 2025/2026
- Classes are held according to the schedule established by the Dean of the Medical Faculty of the Medical University of Bialystok approved by the Faculty Council.
- Students’ attendance is mandatory for all types of classes (conducted both on-site and online).
- Lectures: 26 hours – for all students.
- Lectures are held in 7th semester (Mondays, 12:40-14:10 p.m.), online on Blackboard
- According to the regulations of studies, presence of students in lectures is obligatory
Clinical classes and seminars:
- 35 hours
- Seminars: 14 hours
- Clinical classes take place in 8th semester in Dermatology and Venereology Department.
- Duration of clinical classes: 2 weeks
1st day - 8.00 - 9.30 seminar; 9.30 -12.10 classes
2nd day - 8.00 - 9.30 seminar; 9.30 -12.10 classes
3rd day - 8.00 - 9.30 seminar; 9.30 -12.10 classes
4th day - 8.00 - 9.30 seminar; 9.30 -12.10 classes
5th day - 8.00 - 8.45 seminar; 8.45 - 11.20 classes
6th day - 8.00 - 8.45 seminar; 8.45 -11.20 classes
7th day - 8.00 - 8.45 seminar; 8.45 - 11.20 classes
8th day - 8.00 - 9.30 seminar; 9.30 -12.10 classes
9th day - 8.00 - 8.45 seminar; 8.45 -11.20 classes
10th day - 8.00 - 10.35 classes
- Prior to the start of classes, bags and other personal belongings (including outerwear) must be left in the student cloakroom. During classes, it is mandatory to wear indoor footwear and to have one’s own clean medical lab coats, disposable gloves, and protective masks.
- Students are required to arrive punctually for all classes. Any delay exceeding 15 minutes is considered an absence.
- Unexcused absences from classes are not permitted. Absences may be excused on the basis of a medical certificate, dean’s leave, or a written statement confirming the occurrence of unforeseen circumstances. Such documentation must be submitted to the head of the department within 7 days after the circumstances justifying the absence have ceased. The student is also required to make up for missed classes with another group or, in the case of individual absences (1–2 days), to obtain credit from their teaching assistant no later than the end of the given semester.
- Clinical classes are evaluated after the end of each week.
- At the end of the classes (after two weeks) there is an oral practical exam.
- Practical examination is oral and covers three fields of skills:
- examination of the patient and differential diagnosis of skin lesions
- structure and physiology of the skin
- symptoms of skin diseases and sexually transmitted infections
- In the event of a failure to obtain credit for classes and the practical examination, or in the case of absence from the practical examination, the student shall not be permitted to take the theoretical examination.
- Theoretical final exam in the form of a written test takes place during the summer exam session. There is no exemption from the dermatology and venereology exam.
- The final test consists of 90 questions and lasts 90 minutes.
- The following grades are given for examination:
- (3,0) - ≥ 60% correct answers (54-62 questions)
fairly good (3,5) - ≥ 70% correct answers (63-71 questions)
- (4,0) - ≥ 80% correct answers (72-78 questions)
better than good (4,5) - ≥ 88% correct answers (79-84 questions)
- good (5,0) - ≥ 94% correct answers (85-90 questions)
- In the case of 50 - 53 correct answers the final grade will consist of: the lecture attendance records as well as evaluation of the clinical classes and practical examination results.
- In the case of 47 - 49 correct answers the students have to enter the oral examination in the same examination session.
- In the case of less than 46 correct answers student fails the exam and has to retake it.
- A student is entitled to two resit examinations. Each resit examination shall be conducted in the same form as the initial examination.
- Failure to appear for an examination or resit examination without justification shall result in a failing grade.
- The rules for excusing absences from examinations and resit examinations are specified in the Study Regulations.
- The results of the written test examination shall be published within 14 days on the Department’s website, in the form of a table containing the student’s matriculation number and the grade obtained.
- A student has the right to review the test examination within one week from the date of publication of the test results, in the presence of the head of the department or a person designated by him.
- In the event that a student is found to be in possession of or using unauthorized aids, the student’s test/examination shall be terminated, which is equivalent to receiving 0 points/a failing grade, without the possibility of a resit. Detailed provisions regarding unauthorized aids are set forth in the Study Regulations and the Rector’s Order.
- In matters not regulated by these Rules, the provisions of the Study Regulations for First Degree, Second Degree, and Long-Cycle Master’s Studies at UMB shall apply.
