    Final Exam in Pediatrics

    This year, due to pandemic circumstances, the Exam consists of the test only. The oral part is not provided.

     

    We are pleased to announce the Test in Pediatrics will be held on March 25th, 2022 (Friday).
    Full details (location, time etc.) to be announced soon.

     

    Students are expected at least 20 minutes earlier with their identity document, pen/pensil, bottle of water.
    Due to epidemiological reasons please do not bring bags, coats, and other personal belongings.
    Student having no ID document will not be allowed to take the exam, what results in negative grade.

    Detailed rules regarding the exam are listed below.

     

     

    The test will consist of 100 multiple-choice questions (5 possible answers, only 1 is correct).

    The test will reflect all areas of pediatrics including neonatology.

    Departments:

    1. of Pediatrics and Nephrology;

    2. of Pediatrics, Endocrinology, Diabetology and Cardiology;

    and 3. of Pediatrics, Gastroenterology, Hepatology, Nutrition and Allergology

    prepare 20 questions each.

    Departments:

    1. of Pediatrics, Rheumatology, Immunology and Metabolic Bone Diseases;

    2. of Pediatrics, Oncology and Hematology;

    3. of Pediatric Infectious Diseases;

    and 4. of Neonatology and Newborn Intensive Care

    prepare 10 questions each.

     

    The lenght of the questions (the number of characters) will determine the duration of the test. You will be informed about it in advance.

     

    The 2nd attempt (for those who will unforunately fail the 1st one) is scheduled on April 8th, and the last, 3rd attempt on April 22nd. The time and location of retake test depend on number of retaking students. We truly believe you will pass the Test in your 1st attempt.

     

     

     

    Regulations and legal provisions for the Final Exam in Pediatrics 2021-2022.

    I. Opening remarks and general arrangements

     

    1. Exam in Pediatrics on the 6th year will be conducted as a multiple-choice test. This year oral part of the Exam is not foreseen.

    2. No exam exemption is foreseen.

     

    II. The test

    1. The test questions include the whole content of the subject, and reflect all areas of pediatrics (including neonatology) discussed and trained throughout the university course and curriculum, according to the syllabus for the study years 3rd to 6th.

    2. The range and the set of test questions are prepared in a way reassuring objectivity. The lot is composed and mixed allowing more comfort and independence for individuals sitting side by side, so that the diversified sequence and order of answers are guaranteed.

    3. The multiple-choice test is composed of 100 items. At least 25% of the questions will be practical-based (i.e. analysis of laboratory results, radiological imaging, ECG, and case analysis)

     

    1. Unassisted performance of the test is strictly advised (see: the point 9 of the Regulations).

    2. In case of factual and substantial remarks to the questions, the examinee has the opportunity to submit his/her objections in a written form, immediately after having completed the test, before leaving the auditorium/exam location. Any submitted objections will be carefully checked by the examining board before scoring.

    3. In case the student’s objection has been acknowledged, the relevant question/item will be cancelled, and will have been generally removed from the scoring system. The exemption will then be revoked i.e. the nullified questions will not be scored.

    4. The outcome of the test is presumed positive in case the student has achieved at least 60% of correct answers. The results below 60% denominate failure of the entire exam, i.e., negative evaluation /unacceptable note/ in the first attempt.

    5. Scoring and the range of notes from the written test are based on the criteria specified below:

    1. The results of the test are available and announced within the 3 weekdays from the date of the test. Commonly accepted form of publicizing is applied, thus, the policy and usual procedures of personal data protection is warranted in the announcement of the outcomes.

    2. Student is entitled to the inspection of his/her own exam forms (answer sheet) within 3 days after announcement of the results in the secretary's office of the Department of Pediatrics, Rheumatology, Immunology and Metabolic Bone Diseases. Following this term, the insight into the works and exam papers will not be longer possible.
       

    III. Resit and principles for retake the exam

    1. Students who fail the exam will be granted two (2) opportunities to retake it. The first retake test will be organized within 4 weeks following the first test. The second opportunity will take place within 3 weeks of the first retake exam but no later than the end of the winter exam session i.e 30th April 2022.

    2. The date of the retake test will be announced on the website of the Department of Pediatrics, Rheumatology, Immunology and Metabolic Bone Diseases https://www.umb.edu.pl/en/s,15887/News without undue delay. Note: There will be no possibility to retake the test in any other term than that appointed in the special announcement. Retake exams consist of 100-item multiple-choice test and is based on the identical procedure as that in the first attempt.
