    Post-graduate intership

    Information on practical training corresponding to the scope of the clinical part of the post-graduate internship programme

    Pursuant to Art. 15p sec. 1 of the on the Professions of Doctor and Dentist of 5 December 1996 (that is: Journal of Laws from  2023 item 1516 as amended) and Art. 163 (2) of the Act on Higher Education and Science from 20 July 2018 (that is, Journal of Laws From 2023 item 742 as amended) the Medical University of Bialystok offers to its medicine graduates 6 month-long internship.

    IMPORTANT: The internship can be completed no later than 2 years from the date of obtaining a degree in Medicine. The intership is only avalible for UMB graduates. Within 3 months from the date of completing the internship the graduate must apply to the Minister of Health in order to obtain a decision for the recognition of the internship. All required documents that must be sent to the Ministry of Health will be issued by the English Division Dean’s Office after the end of internship.

    Information:

    1. The internship will be conducted in the medical facility mainly at:
    • Teaching Clinical Hospital in Bialystok
    • Children Teaching Clinical Hospital in Bialystok
    • Regional Centre for Blood Donation and Blood Treatment
    • Outpatient Family Medicine Clinic
    1. The internship lasts 6 months ( 30.06.2025-30.12.2025) and is realized in accordance with the programme listed below.
    2. 7 days before the beginning of internship participant must conclude an agreement on participation in the internship with the Medical University of Bialystok.
    3. The fee for conduct of internship amounts to:

    - for payments in EUR - 7,500 Euro (in words: seven thousand five hundred euro);

    PARTIAL INTERNSHIP IN THE SCOPE OF INTERNAL DISEASES

    Duration of studies: 7 weeks including (6 weeks - internal diseases and 1 week - blood donation and chaemotherapy).

    Internship objective:

    Deepening of theoretical knowledge and discovering, enhancing and familiarization with practical skills in the scope of detecting and treating as well as preventing and rehabilitating the most frequently occurring or constituting the greatest threat for life internal diseases in conditions of stationary and off-patient care as well as in the scope of transfusion medicine.

    Internship programme:

    • in the scope of internal diseases:
    1. Prevention, detection and treatment of the most frequently occurring internal diseases:
      1. cardiovascular system:
        1. coronary artery disease: myocardial infarction
        2. atherosclerosis of arterial vessels, strokes,
        3. hypertension,
        4. chronic circulatory insufficiency,
        5. basic heart rhythm disorders and cardiac conduction disorders,

      3. indications and counterindications for endoscopic procedures;
      4. principles of antibiotic therapy in the most frequently occurring internal diseases requiring application of antibiotics;
      5. principles of undertaking diagnostic and therapeutic decisions concerning the most frequently occurring internal diseases.
    3. Obtaining the following skills and abilities:
      1. venipuncture and arterial puncture in order to apply medication or collect blood for testing, venous cannulation;
      2. blood transfusion and other liquids transfusion;
      3. ECG test;
      4. pleuracentesis and  peritoneocentesis;
      5. catheterisation of the urinary bladder;
      6. collection of material for microbiological testing;
      7. gastric lavage;
      8. measuring and interpretation of results of blood pressure, including pressure on the ankle;
      9. measurement of blood sugar.
    • In the scope of clinical transfusion medicine (5 hours of practical classes):
    1. Familiarization with the principles of modern transfusion medicine:
      1. collections and storage of blood and obtaining blood derivatives;
      2. basics of transfusion immunology;
      3. preventions of post-transfusion virus infections;
      4. basic principles of rational blood treatment and blood derivative treatment;
      5. post-transfusion-related complications
    2. Discovering the following practical skills:
      1. registering and qualifying blood donors and principles of maintaining documentation in this regard;
      2. methods of blood and plasma collection - conventional and with the use of separators, familiarizing with the principles of generating blood derivatives;
      3. conducting immunological, serological tests - antigens of red cells and anti-bodies, cross-compliance tests;
      4. detecting virus markers (HBV, HCV, HIV);
      5. principles of quality control, storage and distribution of blood and its preparations.

    PARTIAL INTERNSHIP IN THE SCOPE OF PAEDIATRICS

    Duration of studies: 4 weeks, including paediatrics - 3 weeks and neonatology - 1 week.

    Internship objective:

    deepening theoretical knowledge and discovering, familiarizing with and enhancing practical skills in the scope of preventing, detecting and treating children age diseases and development disorders in children in conditions of stationary and off-patient care.

    Internship programme:

    1. Detecting and proceeding in case of newborns in cases of developmental defects, respiratory-circulatory disorders, inborn and acquired infections and newborn sepsis, acute metabolic and neurological disorders, serologic conflict, newborn haemorrhagic disease, diseases requiring immediate surgical intervention, dysplasia and  hip dislocations, hypothyroidism and alcohol syndrome.
    2. Detecting and treating newborns with diseases caused by bacterial and virus infections, including viral hepatitis and AIDS, acute diarrhoeas and their complications, chronic diarrhoeas and deficiency states, diseases of the respiratory system, hypothyreosis, hip dysplasia, rapid diseases of abdominal cavity (intussusception), diseases taking the form of convulsions and other paroxysmal states.
    3. Diagnostic, treatment and rehabilitation proceedings among children with cerebral palsy.
    4. Detecting and treating children below the age of 1 in case of: development irregularities, effects of injuries and poisoning, awareness disorders, bleeding from gastric system, reoccurring stomach pains, reoccurring headaches, diseases caused by  infectious agents - including children age infectious diseases as well as nephritis, rheumatic disease, hypertension, cancers, protein, energy and vitamin deficiencies as well as macro and microelements’ deficiencies, atopic diseases and anaphylactic reactions, addiction diseases.
    5. Learning the vaccination calendar, principles of using vaccines and sera, knowledge of adverse post-vaccination reactions and contraindications to vaccination.
    6. Obtaining the following skills and abilities:
      1. proceeding with a newborn directly after birth:
        1. assessments of a newborn on the basis of the Apgar scale,
        2. newborn screening tests (phenylketonuria);
      2. newborn resuscitation;
      3. assessment of the newborn's maturity;
      4. recognizing congenital defects in a newborn and what to do if they are found;
      5. principles of transporting a sick newborn;
      6. care and feeding of a newborn;
      7. assessment of general condition of an infant and older child, including otoscopic examination and measurement of blood pressure, as well as examination for congenital defects;
      8. collecting data from the child's family;
      9. performing resuscitation and providing first aid in life-threatening situations in children;
      10. diagnosing of cerebral palsy;
      11. intravenous puncture and blood collection for tests in infants and older children;
      12. collection of cerebrospinal fluid in children;
      13. collection of material for microbiological testing in children;
      14. insertion of a feeding tube into the stomach or rectum and a catheter into the urinary bladder in children;
      15. care over infants and small children;
      16. blood collection to test for hypothyroidism and phenylketonuria.

    PARTIAL INTERNSHIP IN THE SCOPE OF GENERAL SURGERY

    Duration of studies: 4 weeks, including general surgery - 3 weeks and trauma surgery - 1 week.

    Internship objective:

    Deepening of theoretical knowledge and discovering, enhancing and familiarization with practical skills in the scope of detecting and treating as well as preventing and rehabilitating the most frequently occurring surgical diseases as part of stationary and out-patient care.

    Internship programme:

    1. Detecting and proceeding in case of:
      1. traumatic and hypovolemic shock;
      2. traumatic injuries regarding:
        1. central and peripheral nervous system:
          • brain, skull and facial bones, taking into account the Glasgow scale,
          • cranial and peripheral nerves,
        2. chest, in particular:
          • in injuries of the chest, heart, lungs and large vessels,
          • in post-traumatic and spontaneous pneumothorax,
          • in damages to the chest wall, ribs and sternum,
        3. stomach cavity, in particular:
          • in stomach wounds,
          • in blunt abdominal injuries,
        4. urogenital system,
        5. spine, in particular diagnosis and proceeding with patients with spine fractures,
        6. limbs, in particular:
          • closed and open fractures of the limbs, with particular emphasis on the most common fractures, i.e. the distal radius, ankles, femoral neck,
          • dislocations of large joints (shoulder, elbow, hip),
          • subluxations, sprains and contusions of joints, with particular emphasis on the knee and ankle joints,
        7. burns and frostbite:
          • in burns and frostbite of the integuments,
          • in burns of the respiratory tract and digestive tract;
      3. infections in surgery:
        1. in septic shock,
        2. in purulent inflammation of the skin and subcutaneous tissue (abscess, boil, shot, paronychia),
        3. in wound infections (tetanus, gas gangrene, erysipelas);
      4. the most common surgical diseases of the abdominal cavity, regarding:
        1. “acute abdomen”:
    • perforation of the digestive tract,
    • acute appendicitis,
    • acute cholecystitis,
    • acute pancreatitis,
    • intestinal obstructions, with external hernias typical of incarcerated hernias,
        1. bleeding into the gastrointestinal tract,
        2. other diseases of the digestive tract:
    • gastric ulcer and duodenal ulcers,
    • gallstones,
    • the most common diseases of the anus and rectum (abscess, fistula, haemorrhoids);
      1. urological diseases:
        1. kidney stone,
        2. urinary retention,
        3. testicular hydrocele,
        4. prostatic hyperplasia,
        5. prostatic cancer,
      2. nervous system diseases:
        1.  in vascular injuries,
        2.  in acute non-traumatic limb ischemia (embolism, blood clots),
        3.  in chronic ischemia of the lower limbs,
        4.  in aortic aneurysm,
        5.  in venous thromboembolism, especially affecting the lower limbs,
        6.  in chronic insufficiency of the venous system of the lower limbs.
    1. Learning the principles of early diagnosis and surgical treatment of breast, gastrointestinal, thyroid and skin cancer.
    2. Learning indications for application and basics of interpretation of certain diagnostic methods and treatment procedures in surgery:
      1. radiological and  ultrasonographic diagnostics;
      2. computer tomography and magnetic resonance imaging;
      3. endoscopy, with particular emphasis on gastroscopy, ERCP, rectoscopy, colonoscopy, cystoscopy;
      4. general principles and possibilities of laparoscopic surgery.
    3.  Detecting general surgical issues concerning:
      1. principles of asepsis and antisepsis, prevention of perioperative infections;
      2. tetanus prevention;
      3. prevention of hepatotropic virus and HIV infections;
      4. principles of modern antibiotic therapy in surgical diseases;
      5. principles of preparing patients for surgery under general anaesthesia;
      6. principles of modern peri- and postoperative rehabilitation.
    4. Obtaining the following skills and abilities:
      1. surgical washing of hands and the surgical field;
      2. surgical preparation and suturing of small wounds;
      3. local anaesthesia;
      4. incision and drainage of the abscess;
      5. applying basic plaster and immobilization dressings;
      6. installation of pleural drainage;
      7. procedures for external bleeding;
      8. insertion of a nasogastric tube;
      9. intravenous transfusion of blood and infusion fluids;
      10. handling burns;
      11. rectal examination and assessment of the prostate gland;
      12. performing anoscopy.

     

    PARTIAL INTERNSHIP IN THE SCOPE OF MIDWIFERY AND GYNECOLOGY

    Duration of studies: 3 weeks

    Internship objective:

    deepening theoretical knowledge and learning, consolidating and acquiring practical skills in the field of medical care in normal pregnancy, childbirth and postpartum, as well as prevention, recognition and treatment of the most common complications of pregnancy, childbirth and postpartum, as well as diseases of the genital organs in women in inpatient and outpatient care conditions.

    Internship programme:

    1. Diagnosis and medical care during pregnancy and rules of conduct during labour and postpartum:
      1. principles of preconception care;
      2. recognizing pregnancy and principles of handling a properly progressing pregnancy;
      3. recognition and management of pregnancy complications, in particular:
        1. threatened miscarriage,
        2. hypertension,
        3. premature placental abruption, placenta previa,
        4. serological conflict,
        5. infections;
      4. principles of treatment of diseases comorbid with pregnancy, in particular:
        1. diabetes,
        2. heart and vascular diseases,
        3. infections of the urogenital system,
        4. thromboembolic complications;
      5. understanding the principles of interpretation of ultrasound examinations performed during pregnancy;
      6. rules of conduct during normal childbirth in the hospital and outside the hospital, including learning the indications and methods for relieving labour pain;
      7. recognizing perinatal complications, handling abnormal delivery, including determining indications for surgical completion of delivery, in particular:
        1. premature birth,
        2. obstetric haemorrhage;
      8. learning the principles of recognizing and proceeding with postpartum complications;
      9. learning the rules of breastfeeding;
      10. basics of diagnosing postpartum depression.
    2. Principles of health promotion and prevention in obstetrics, with particular emphasis on:
      1. premature birth;
      2. infections, including viral ones (HIV);
      3. serological conflict;
      4. foetal development disorders, prenatal tests.
    3. Learning the principles of prevention, diagnosis and treatment of genital diseases in women, in particular:
      1. ectopic pregnancy;
      2. infections, including sexually transmitted ones;
      3. menstrual cycle disorders and fertility disorders;
      4. genital and breast cancer;
      5. health problems of women during menopause.
    4. Learning the methods and principles of family planning.
    5. Learning the indications for the use and basics of interpretation of selected diagnostic methods of surgical treatment in obstetrics and gynaecology:
      1. radiological and  ultrasonographic diagnostics;
      2. computed tomography;
      3. endoscopy, with particular emphasis on laparoscopy, hysteroscopy and colposcopy.
    6. Learning the principles of asepsis and antisepsis in obstetrics and gynaecology.
    7. Obtaining the following skills and abilities:
      1. external and internal obstetric examination;
      2. assessment of foetal heart function, including interpretation of cardiotocography;
      3. interpretation of a gasometric test from blood taken from the foetal scalp or umbilical cord;
      4. delivering 3 physiological deliveries - learning the rules of procedure;
      5. incisions and stitching of the perineum;
      6. gynaecological examination;
      7. nipple examinations;
      8. performing a cytological examination and interpreting its results;
      9. principles and methods of family planning;
      10. principles of diagnosing and treating menopausal ailments.

    PARTIAL INTERNSHIP IN THE FIELD OF ANAESTHESIOLOGY AND INTENSIVE CARE AND IN THE FIELD OF EMERGENCY RESCUE MEDICINE

    Internship programme for the partial internship in the scope of anaesthesiology and intensive care

    Duration of studies: 2 weeks, including 1 week - anaesthesiology and 1 week - intensive care.

    The purpose of internship in the scope of anaesthesiology:

    deepening and practical knowledge and acquisition of knowledge related to the use, selection and principles of organization of the perioperative period, anaesthesia and life-threatening conditions related to its use, as well as learning techniques for monitoring and perceiving basic vital functions along with intraoperative procedures in the field of intensive care.

    Purpose of intensive care internship:

    Understanding the doctrine of intensive care based on the admission and dismissal criteria from the ward, becoming familiar with the system of organization and medical procedures applicable in intensive care and understanding the assessment of the severity of the patient's condition based on predictive scales and scales directly assessing the patient's general condition as well as the condition of selected systems and organs. Getting to know the tactics of intensive care related to the implementation of invasive therapeutic techniques based on invasive technologies for monitoring basic and detailed vital parameters.

    Internships may be conducted by clinics, clinical departments, branches and authorized units entered on the list of the voivodeship marshal.

    Internship programme:

    • in the scope of anaesthesiology:
    1. Proceeding with patients in the perioperative period:
      1. assessment of the patient's condition in the preoperative period, depending on the type of indication for surgery or diagnostic procedure;
      2. tasks of an anaesthesiologist performed in an anaesthesiology clinic, goals of an anaesthesiology clinic;
      3. purposes of general, regional and combined anaesthesia;
      4. anaesthesia physiopathology;
      5. pharmacotherapy of anaesthesia, including pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics, as well as the tasks of anaesthesiology in ambulatory surgery;
      6. anaesthesia monitoring;
      7. monitoring basic vital functions, indications for invasive monitoring;
      8. renal system and the role of the liver during anaesthesia (elimination and degradation of anaesthetics);
      9. advantages and disadvantages of general anaesthesia and regional anaesthesia;
      10. anaesthesia-related morbidity and mortality;
      11. recovery room as a legal obligation and guardian of safety in the immediate postoperative and postanesthesia period;
      12. postoperative pain relief, acute pain management syndrome;
      13. aesthetic standards and anaesthesia station, legal aspects.
    • in the field of intensive care:
    1. Treatment of patients in the ward and intensive care unit - general issues:
      1. specificity of the intensive care position;
      2. specificity of perception and assessment of general condition in intensive care;
      3. specificity of differential diagnosis in intensive care;
      4. morbidity and mortality associated with intensive care;
      5. subjectivity of the patient in intensive care;
      6. social, economic and social impacts of intensive care;
      7. the place of intensive care in the organizational structure of the hospital;
      8. admission criteria to the ICU.
    2. Detailed issues:

    3. techniques for preventing complications in a critically ill patient;

    5. monitoring the dynamics of the circulatory system;

    1. The internship ends with a colloquium covering theoretical knowledge and practical skills. The colloquium is conducted by the head of the department or his deputy.

     

    Partial internship programme in the scope of emergency rescue medicine

    Duration of studies: 1 week

    Internship objective:

    Deepening theoretical knowledge and learning, consolidating and acquiring practical skills in the field of emergency medical activities and clinical procedures of emergency medicine.

    Place of internship: emergency medicine clinics, clinical departments of emergency medicine, hospital emergency departments.

    Internship programme:

    1. Consolidation of the principles of advanced cardiopulmonary resuscitation and post-resuscitation therapy.
    2. Consolidation of the principles of emergency procedures in multi-organ injuries, in particular:
      1. initial assessment of a patient with multiple body injuries;
      2. maintaining the vital functions of a patient with multiple body injuries;
      3. practical knowledge of the principles of transporting a patient with multiple body injuries;
      4. conducting secondary assessment of a patient with multiple injuries;
      5. learning advanced peri-traumatic diagnostic techniques and principles of diagnostic differentiation in injuries;
      6. clinical management of traumatic shock.
    3. Expanding the ability to perform intra-hospital triage in the event of a sudden threat to health or life.
    4. Expanding skills in dealing with a sudden threat to health or life of internal origin, such as:
      1. sudden cardiac arrest;
      2. acute circulatory failure of various aetiologies;
      3. acute respiratory failure of various aetiologies;
      4. shock of various aetiologies;
      5. sudden loss of consciousness;
      6. acute abdominal diseases;
      7. acute illnesses of pregnant women;
      8. acute convulsive states.
    5. Procedure in case of sudden threats to health or life in children.
    6. Rescue procedures in the event of sudden threats to health or life of environmental origin:
      1. acute poisoning;
      2. chemical contamination;
      3. thermal injury (burn, heat stroke, hypothermia);
      4. drowning, diving injury;
      5. electric shocks and lightning strikes;
      6. bites and stings.
    7. Mastery of the following emergency medical skills:
      1. in the field of cardiopulmonary resuscitation:
        1. unblocking the airways using non-instrumental methods,
        2. endotracheal intubation,
        3. opening the airway using alternative techniques (e.g. laryngeal masks, gel masks, laryngeal tubes, etc.),
        4. opening the airway using surgical techniques, including cricotomy and tracheostomy,
        5. respiratory support and artificial ventilation,
        6. electrical defibrillation and cardioversion,
        7. indirect heart massage,
        8. performing central intravenous access,
        9. fluid resuscitation,
        10. decompression of pneumothorax, especially tension pneumothorax;
      2. in the field of rescue activities in pre-hospital conditions (medical rescue activities):
        1. securing an injured patient while being removed from a damaged vehicle,
        2. maintaining vital functions at the scene of an incident or accident and during transport,
        3. immobilization of the cervical and thoracolumbar spine,
        4. immobilizing fractures at the scene of an incident or accident,
        5. stopping haemorrhages;
      3. monitoring basic vital functions during transport and in the hospital emergency department;
      4. treating superficial wounds;

     5) principles of conduction anaesthesia and analgosedation in hospital emergency procedures;

     6) rules of conduct in emergency delivery.

    1. Consolidation of the principles of organizing emergency medicine and the principles of organization and operation of hospital emergency departments, maintaining medical records appropriate for the hospital emergency department and implementing the hospital disaster protection plan.
    2. Expanding skills in dealing with sudden health or life-threatening conditions in pre-hospital conditions.
    3. Expanding skills in dealing with mass incidents and disasters, in particular conducting pre-hospital triage and organizing and conducting rescue operations.

     

    PARTIAL INTERNSHIP IN THE SCOPE OF PSYCHIATRY

    Duration of studies: 2 weeks

    Internship objective:

    learning, consolidating and acquiring practical skills in recognizing and dealing with mental disorders in inpatient and outpatient care.

    Internship programme:

      1. Diagnosis (assessment of causes, risks), selection of procedures and treatment in urgent conditions related to mental disorders, such as:
        1. suicidal behaviour;
        2. aggressive and other threatening behaviour;
        3. acute psychotic disorders;
        4. panic disorder;
        5. urgent complications of psychopharmacotherapy.
    1. Recognizing and treating mental disorders more common in primary care, learning how to prevent them:
        1. mental and somatic disorders related to alcohol and other addictive substances;
        2. depressive syndromes;
        3. neurotic syndromes;
        4. stress responses and adaptive responses;

    4. Learning the principles and practical possibilities of using available forms of treatment, rehabilitation, social and community assistance and social support for people with mental disorders.
    5. Mastering the following skills:
        1.  assessment of mental state, taking into account the specificity of developmental and old age;
        2.  assessing the impact of somatic factors on the patient's mental state;
        3.  assessing the impact of mental and environmental factors on the patient's somatic condition;
        4.  assessment of pathogenic factors in the patient's family;
        5.  assessment of the pathogenic significance of developmental crises and experiences related to disease (acute, chronic, terminal) and treatment;
        6. establishing appropriate contact with a person with mental disorders and mobilizing an attitude of cooperation in treatment, avoiding iatrogenic impacts;
        7. conducting crisis intervention;
        8. conducting supportive psychotherapy;
        9. selecting lawful medical proceedings when it is necessary to act without the patient's consent;
        10. the use of basic groups of psychotropic drugs, including the prevention of drug addiction.

    PARTIAL INTERNSHIP IN THE SCOPE OF FAMILY MEDICINE

    Duration of studies: 3 weeks

    Internship objective:

    Learning and consolidating the organization and methods of work in the conditions of long-term outpatient care and at the patient's home, as well as practical skills in the diagnosis, treatment, prevention and rehabilitation of diseases that are the most common cause of patients reporting to clinics, as well as requiring long-term treatment in the home environment (care for chronically sick people).

    Internship programme:

      1. Prevention, diagnosis and treatment of diseases that are the most common reason for patients to come to the clinic:
        1. acute infectious diseases of the respiratory tract (sinusitis, pharyngitis, tonsillitis, larynx, trachea and bronchitis);
        2. inflammation of the middle ear and hearing disorders;
        3. infectious diseases, including zoonoses;
        4. diseases of the digestive system (in particular peptic ulcer disease, gallstones);
        5. urinary system diseases;
        6. skin diseases (in particular purulent infections of the skin and subcutaneous tissue, burns and frostbite);
        7. surgical diseases (in particular injuries of soft tissues of the head, trunk and limbs, sprains and bruises of joints, varicose veins of the legs, varicose veins of the anus, chronic ulcers of the legs);
        8. women's diseases (in particular certain pregnancy complications, postpartum complications, menstrual cycle disorders, menopausal disorders, genital infections in women);
        9. diseases of the visual organs (in particular visual defects, inflammation of the protective apparatus of the eye, injuries of the visual organ, glaucoma, cataracts, diseases resulting in blindness);
        10. diseases of the nervous system (in particular dizziness, epilepsy, Parkinson's syndrome, spinal pain syndromes, peripheral neuropathies).
    1. Treatment, rehabilitation and care of chronically ill patients in outpatient and home settings, with particular emphasis on the following diseases:
        1. coronary heart disease;
        2. hypertension,
        3. atherosclerosis;
        4. tuberculosis;
        5. bronchial asthma;
        6. prostatic hyperplasia;
        7. kidney failure;
        8. diabetes;
        9. rheumatoid disease, rheumatic disease and degenerative changes of the osteoarticular system;
        10. cancer diseases, including palliative care;
        11. cerebral palsy;
        12. epilepsy;
        13. mental disorders;
        14. addictions (alcoholism, drug addiction, drug addiction);
        15. liver cirrhosis;
        16. AIDS.
    2. In terms of organization and working methods of the clinic and individual medical practice:
        1. organization of the work of a family doctor's clinic (registration, documentation, rules for recording costs, medical certification, reporting, rules for writing prescriptions, referrals for diagnostic tests and specialists and for sanatorium treatment);
        2. cooperation with the community/family nurse and social worker and with practice staff;
        3. rules of cooperation with emergency care facilities, hospitals, care and treatment facilities, diagnostic laboratories, specialists in other fields of medicine, sanitary and epidemiological stations;
        4. principles of cooperation with local government units, institutions and organizations dealing with social assistance and with schools and educational system establishments.
    3. Obtaining the following skills and activities:
        1. assessment of children's physical and psychomotor development, with particular emphasis on infants;
        2. carrying out preventive vaccinations in accordance with the vaccination calendar;
        3. determination of glycaemia, glycosuria and ketonuria using dry tests;
        4. conducting skin tests;
        5. applying dressings;
        6. treatment of wounds;
        7. application of tetanus prevention;
        8. external obstetric examination;
        9. detection of cardiac activity in the foetus;
        10. assessment of foetal mobility;
        11. taking a cytological test;
        12. collecting material for microbiological tests in an outpatient setting;
        13. performing anterior tamponade;
        14. earwax removal;
        15. removal of foreign bodies from the conjunctival sac;
        16. visual acuity tests;
        17. colour vision tests;
        18. binocular vision tests;
        19. fundus tests.
