International Triumph for MUB’s Researchers
The BEACON project (Building Education and One Health with Adaptive Convergence and Open Networks), co-created by scientists from the Medical University of Białystok, has secured funding in the prestigious OC-2024-1 COST competition! Among 843 submissions from across Europe, only 70 initiatives were selected - and BEACON soared to the top with a near-perfect score of 48/50 points. This marks MUB's sole awarded project this year, cementing our researchers' world-class standing.
Education Revolution: One Health for All
How do we unite human, animal, and environmental health into a single compelling narrative? BEACON answers this challenge by developing an AI-powered educational program for schools, blending interactive teaching methods with real-world scenarios. Students will explore how pandemics, climate change, and food security intersect with the One Health concept.
A consortium of experts from 22 countries - spanning public health, educational technology, and environmental sciences - is crafting fact-based, inclusive, and genuinely captivating learning tools.
The Białystok Touch: AI, Epigenetics & Open Science
Dr. Witold Bauer and the team from MUB’s Genomics and Epigenomics Laboratory play a pivotal role. They’re developing tools to assess students' digital skills while enriching the program with unique One Health datasets. Outcomes? Open-access publications, teacher workshops, and community campaigns - ensuring knowledge reaches those who need it most.
