Once again, the Medical University of Białystok has received an invitation from Semmelweis University in Hungary to participate in the training programme: ‘Harvard Medical School's Clinical Science Scholars Programme at Semmelweis University’. This is a joint educational programme between these two universities in Hungary and the USA.

As part of the programme, participants have the opportunity to learn about best practices in clinical research. The comprehensive programme includes monthly interactive webinars and over 85 recorded online lectures. Participants can also choose certain classes based on their interests, such as additional clinical trial analysis, genetic epidemiology, or cost-effectiveness and health decision-making. Upon completion of the programme requirements, participants will receive a certificate of completion, and other benefits include becoming an associate member of Harvard Medical School and the Harvard University Alumni Association.

The main topics of the training programme are: research ethics, epidemiology, clinical trials, biostatistics, leadership/teamwork.

The training programme also includes three workshops (two in-person and one live virtual).

    Workshop 1: 27-30 July 2026 - Budapest/Semmelweis (Hungary)

    Workshop 2: 1-4 December 2026 - Online workshop (live)

    Workshop 3: 16-19 March 2027 - Boston, Massachusetts (USA).

Additionally, one of the elements of the course is writing a formal research project proposal (writing will begin before the second workshop), which will be consulted on an ongoing basis with Harvard programme lecturers. This proposal will be evaluated by a panel, and the authors of the 10 best proposals will be able to present their research proposals during webinars (in addition, the 3 best papers will be presented during the seminar concluding the programme in Boston, USA). The condition for completing the course is passing all tests with a score of 70% or higher. At the end of each module, participants must take a multiple-choice quiz to receive a pass for that module. A mid-term and final exam are also planned.
