On October 12, 2026, in the Aula Magna of Medical Umiversity of Białystok hosted the Internationalization Day by the National Agency for Academic Exchange under the title „Internationalization of Medical Universities – Challenges, Experiences, and Strategic Directions.”

The event in Białystok is one of a series of meetings meant to provide a space to listen to the academic community; as well as, the development of a coherent strategic document, which will designate the direction of internationalization of Polish science and higher education. The event will be attended by representatives of university leadership, government administration, the academic and doctoral communities, and experts specializing in internationalization of higher education.

The event was divided into two discussion panels. The first focused on the strategic dimension of internationalization of medical universities, and the relation between government administration and the academic and scientific communities. The panel was attended by: Dr. Damian Syjczak – Deputy Director of NAWA, Prof. Marcin Moniuszko, Ph.D. – Rector of the Medical University of Białystok, Prof. Maria Mrówczańska, Ph.D. – Secretary of State at the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, M.Sc. Rafał Ramut -  Chairman of the Polish National Association of Doctoral Candidates, Prof. Tomasz Wojdacz – Pomeranian Medical University, Medical University of Białystok, CEO of the International Society for Molecular and Clinical Epigenetics  (isMOCLEP), and Prof. Agnieszka Dradzińska-Głębocka – Białystok University of Technology, Chairwoman of the Task Force for the Development of a Higher Education Strategy.

The second discussion panel was dedicated to development of attractive academic programs, as well as, the challenges connected with the recruitment of foreign students. In this part of the meeting the following spoke: Prof. Tomasz Hryszko, Ph.D. – Dean of the Faculty of Medicine with the Division of Dentistry and Division of Medical Education in English, Prof. Marcin Baranowski, Ph.D. – Vice-Dean for Development and Medical Education in English, Piotr Chmiel – Deputy Director, Consular Department of the Ministry of foreign affairs, Hanna Reczulska – Director of the Office of Educational Recognition (NAWA), Aleksandra Uruska, Ph.D. – Director of the Center for English-Language Instruction at Poznań University of Medical Sciences, and Prof. Karol Rawicz-Pruszyński, Ph.D. – Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at the Medical University of Lublin.

The organisation of the NAWA Internationalization Day at the Medical University of Białystok is a crucial step toward establishing a modern, competitive position for Polish medical universities on the international stage. The event created a unique platform for the direct exchange of experiences among the governemnt representatives, academic leadership, and distinguished experts, which will enable a more effective response to the challenges associated with the globalization of higher education. For the Medical University of Białystok, hosting such a prestigious meeting is not only a testament to its achievements in the area of international cooperation but also an unparalleled opportunity to actively help development of the strategic directions of Polish medical science and education in the coming years.
