Research background (first year PhD PROJECT 2018/2019)

Clonal hematopoiesis of indeterminate potential (CHIP), which, defined as the presentation of mutant clones of white blood cells due to somatic mutation in patients without hematologic disorders, may be a risk factor for atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease. However, the nature of this association is still unclear. We intended to identify the pathologies associated with presentation of clonal hematopoiesis of indeterminate potential (CHIP) in patients with ischemic heart disease (IHD). We will perform amplicon sequencing to detect the present of CHIP in peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC) and relate such presence to the risk factor of cardiovascular disease in patients with ischemic heart disease.
