The following information is based on the 2020/2021 scholarship rules and regulations. Please bear in mind that the regulations may change in the following years.
You can apply for the scholarships at the beginning of an academic year. Scholarship amounts are paid monthly. The first scholarship instalment for a particular academic year will be paid in November, together with reimbursement for October.
A Rector's scholarship (scholarship for the best PhD students)
The scholarship is awarded for 10 months, from 1.10 to 31.07.
To apply for the scholarship, you have to submit an application by October 15.
The scholarship for the best doctoral students in the first year of their PhD studies can only be awarded to a single candidate with the highest score in the recruitment process. The ranking list is available at the MUB website.
Starting from the 2nd year of studies, all students can apply for a scholarship for the best PhD students. To be eligible, you have to pass all the exams (an average of grades at least 4.5), to demonstrate your academic work or dissertation progress (publications printed or accepted for printing, involvement in other forms of scientific and research activities, demonstrated active participation in conferences, work on conference organization), and prove your commitment as a co-lecturer at the University.
In accordance with the Polish law, scholarships can only be granted to the nationals of the Member States of the European Union, of the Swiss Confederation, or the member states of the EFTA, and to non-nationals who have been granted a residence permit (in order to work in a profession requiring high qualifications) or temporary protection in the territory of Poland, or a European Community long-term residence permit, or a fixed-term residence permit, or a subsidiary protection in the territory of Poland, as well as non-nationals with a refugee status assigned by the Republic of Poland and migrant workers.
Maintenance grant
This grant is awarded for a period of 10 months, from 1.10 to 31.07.
To apply for the grant, you have to submit your application by October 15.
To be eligible, your income cannot exceed PLN 1028,10 net per household member.
A maintenance grant, a special grant for students with disabilities (medical certificate on the degree of disability is required) and special aid grants can only be awarded to Polish citizens and all non-nationals mentioned above, as well as holders of a valid Polish Charter card.
