The Medical University of Białystok obtained the first patent in its history in Canada!
On September 19, 2023, the Canadian Patent Office published information about the granting of a patent for the invention titled: "Derives de L-proline sulfonamide comprenant le systeme pyrazolo[4,3-e]tetrazolo[4,5-b][1,2,4]triazine, procede de fabrication, utilisations et composition pharmaceutique les comprenant" (,,New L-proline sulfonamide derivatives containing the pyrazolo[4,3-e]tetrazolo[4,5-b][1,2,4]triazine system, method of their preparation, their uses and pharmaceutical composition containing them”).
The subject of the invention is a method of producing and using a new disulfonamide derivative of triazine (MM-129) in the treatment of gastrointestinal cancer, in particular colorectal cancer.
Scientists from the Medical University of Białystok were involved in the work on obtaining the patent- prof. Dariusz Pawlak, prof. Anna Bielawska, prof. Krzysztof Bielawski, dr hab. Justyna Hermanowicz, dr hab. Anna Tankiewicz-Kwedlo and dr Anna Szymanowska from the Faculty of Pharmacy with the Division of Laboratory Medicine. The co-authors of the invention are also prof. Mariusz Mojzych from the University of Natural Sciences and Humanities in Siedlce and dr Katarzyna Kotwica-Mojzych from the Medical University of Lublin.
