50 scholarships of PLN 6,000 each were awarded by the mayor of Bialystok to students who distinguished themselves in their studies, sports, artistic or other activities of particular excellence or as volunteers. 18 of these awards went to students from the Medical University of Bialystok.

This is the second edition of the Bialystok Mayor's Scholarships program. This is the way the magistrate wants to support the academic development of the city and try to encourage young people to stay in Bialystok. A total of more than 120 applications for the award were submitted (33 from MUB), and the top 50 were selected from among them. 33 ladies and 17 gentlemen received awards.

‘‘Academicism is youth, academicism is the future. You are the future, you are the ones who will take responsibility for this city in the future," President Truskolaski said to those gathered.

Bialystok has recently launched another program to support graduating students. The best ones, with a grade point average of min. 4.75 (soon to be lowered to 4.5), if they work in Bialystok after graduation, can apply to rent an apartment from municipal resources on preferential terms. The city will soon give away 186 such units, and 93 of them may end up in the hands of graduates.
