A library named after Prof. dr Zofia Mariak has been founded at the MUB/USK Department of Ophthalmology.

On Wednesday, 17 January 2024, the Prof. Zofia Mariak Library was opened in the Department of Ophthalmology. Professor Mariak was until recently head of the Department - she has been retired since September 2021.

The library named after her is a way of expressing gratitude for her contribution to the creation of the Department and the growth of the people working here (the initiative of the current head, Dr hab. Joanna Konopinska, financial support from the University).

The library itself is a small room with a large bookcase, a desk and computer for work, and a table with two armchairs. The collection includes textbooks and scientific dissertations (in various fields of ophthalmology), but also, for example, Professor's notes, which she used to prepare for her specialisation exams (these are studies of topics from American and European publications). There is also a special shelf with books written/edited by Prof. Mariak, which are not scientific studies and include, among others, fairy tales for children.
