In the Perspektywy ranking published on 25 June 20215, the Medical University of Bialystok took first place together with the Medical University of Lodz and the Medical University of Gdansk, ahead of the Medical University of Warsaw, which started the ranking last year. It is worth noting that this is another promotion for MUB - in 2024, the university was in second place and was awarded the title of “Advancement of the Year”.

At the same time, MUB was ranked among the top of all several hundred Polish higher education institutions - it was ranked 12th in the ranking of academic universities. Here, too, the Medical University of Bialystok maintained its last year's high position and is the highest ranked university in Podlaskie.

In the scientific effectiveness category, the Medical University of Bialystok was ranked 3rd among Polish universities. The efficiency of raising funds for research and development was particularly highly rated (second place in the country).

The rank of the universities was determined by: scientific potential (evaluation of scientific activity, saturation of the staff with the most highly qualified persons, doctoral and postdoctoral qualifications, education of doctoral students in doctoral schools), scientific efficiency (efficiency in obtaining funds for research and development, funds obtained from EU framework programmes for scientific research and innovation, development of own staff, awarded scientific degrees, number of publications included in the SCOPUS database in 2020-2024, indicators determining citations and page views of publications - FWCI, FWVI, Publications in Top 10 Journal Percentiles). Educational conditions were also taken into account, i.e. the availability of highly qualified staff and an indicator measured by the number of current accreditations and international certificates held by the university, valid certificates of educational excellence). Another important criterion was internationalisation, measured, inter alia, by the number of foreign students and students studying in foreign languages, participation in a European university, exchanges of academic staff and students or the average number of citations received by publications with a foreign co-author. What counted was innovation, i.e. the number of patents and protection rights obtained by the university in Poland and abroad, and the SDGs - the university's research contribution to the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Other criteria were: graduates on the labour market (salary and employment) and prestige (evaluation by academic staff and international recognition).

"We are very pleased to have once again been recognised as one of the best academic universities in Poland, and as the best medical university in the country. It is gratifying to be ranked high in both of these rankings. In addition, many of our faculties were rated highly in this nationwide ranking - which I hope is important information for this year's high school graduates and secondary school students, and their families. I have always said that all the best in academic medicine can be found in Bialystok. We are also extremely proud that we ranked high among all several hundred Polish universities in the category of scientific effectiveness, including the effectiveness of obtaining external funds for research and development," comments MUB Rector Marcin Moniuszko.
