The Medical University of Bialystok has completed work on creating a bilingual (Polish-English) Visual Identification System (VIS).
The project included the development of among other things:
- a jubilee logo for the 75th anniversary of the university.
- logos of the faculties of Our University: Faculty of Medicine with Department of Dentistry and Department of Teaching in English, Faculty of Health Sciences and Faculty of Pharmacy,
- color palette and typography,
- document templates (presentations, business cards, letterheads),
- a brand book containing rules and instructions useful in the daily use of the developed materials.
The new materials were designed to combine:
- tradition and modernity - in the form of references to the history of the university, with particular emphasis on the Branicki Palace - the main seat of UMB;
- openness and development - dynamic lines and shapes symbolize constant movement, development and openness to new ideas.
- community and cooperation - all graphic materials form a coherent whole, just like our academic community, which, despite its diversity, is united by a common goal.
VIS information and downloadable materials
The application for funding, with the idea of developing and implementing the VIS, was written by Jakub Wszeborowski and Sylwia Klepacka, in cooperation with Tomasz Maliszewski, PhD, of the International Cooperation Department, and Sylwia Klepacka was responsible for coordinating the task. The commission evaluating the graphic designs consisted of people representing a number of MUB units: Prof. Katarzyna Socha, PhD (Vice Rector for Development and Cooperation with the Economic Environment), Prof. Tomasz Hryszko MD, PhD (Dean of the Faculty of Medicine with the Divison of Dentistry and Division of Teaching in English, and Dean of the College of Medical Sciences) Jerzy Tokajuk PhD (Deputy Chancellor for Technical Affairs), Magdalena Muskała, PhD (Head of the Museum of the Medical University of Bialystok and Branicki Palace), Paweł Radziejewski PhD (Head of the Archives) Hanna Sarosiek (Head of the Promotion and Recruitment Office) and Tomasz Maliszewski, PhD (Head of the International Cooperation Department), the following Deans were also involved helpfully in the development of projects related to the logos of individual faculties: Prof. Sławomir Terlikowski, PhD and Prof. Wojciech Miltyk, PhD.
The projects, with cooperation in a working mode, were developed by Jakub Rola SCRIBA company, whose portfolio includes the development of VIS for numerous institutions and organisations, including the National Academic Exchange Agency.
Why use VIS?
- We strengthen the University's brand - each use of official UMB graphic materials (on presentations, in social media, on promotional materials) strengthens the recognition and prestige of our academic brand,
- We create a consistent image of the University - A consistent visual identity is the key to effective communication - both internally and externally. Thanks to it, we are better perceived by stakeholders, i.e. by candidates, students, PhD students, and employees, as well as by partners and organisations,
- VIS is not only graphical symbols. It’s also an invitation to build a brand together that will make all of us proud.

The implementation of the VIS was possible due to the funding of the project entitled "East or West MUB is the best. Promotion of the Medical University of Bialystok on the global scene". The project is financed by the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange under the Welcome to Poland (2023) programme.
