Medical University of Bialystok welcomes first-year English Division medical students

This year, the Medical University of Bialystok is welcoming 105 first-year students to the English-language medical program, conducted at the Faculty of Medicine with the Division of Dentistry and the Division of Medical Education in English. On this occasion, on September 30, 2025, the International Cooperation Department organized a so-called Welcome Meeting in the Column Hall.

MUB has become a globally recognized brand, attracting applicants from the farthest corners of the world. Students come from over 30 countries – from the United Kingdom and Norway, through India and Pakistan, to Morocco, Myanmar, and Turkmenistan.

This year, the largest groups come from Norway (27 students), India (23), and the United Kingdom (9). MUB will also host students from more exotic countries such as Myanmar, Cameroon, and Turkmenistan.

    A meeting for “freshmen”

Today’s meeting for the “freshmen” was opened by Marta Jemieljańczuk from the International Cooperation Department, who spoke about the most important places and tools supporting new students: the mobile application myUMB, the Welcome Centre, the Erasmus+ Office (also attended by the autumn cohort of Erasmus+ participants), as well as the facilities offered by the University for international students.

Senior students were also present – five peers from different countries who, as they said, felt the need to share their experiences and support the younger year group in the challenging first days in a new place. The students prepared two presentations to introduce the newcomers to academic life and everyday realities at MUB. As they emphasized, last year – when they themselves started – they missed the voice of older peers, which is why this year they decided to create such a space themselves.

“We wanted to build a bridge between the University’s resources, the academic staff, and social integration, so that every student has an equal start and access to all the information,” they said. They added that thanks to the new peer-to-peer mentoring initiative and their presence on Instagram (@umbp2p UMB Peer Mentoring) and WhatsApp, they aim not only to support their colleagues academically but also to promote student life and a sense of community at the University.

After the official part in the Column Hall, students took part in a Campus Tour, which gave them the opportunity to get to know the University spaces and facilities better.

    English Division at MUB

At present, there are 420 students enrolled across all years of the English Division. International students benefit from modern infrastructure, a bilingual campus signage system, a well-equipped library, and a range of international events – from Karaoke Nights to the International Sports Day.

The recruitment process was carried out from December 2024 by the International Cooperation Department together with Prof. Tomasz Hryszko – Rector’s Proxy for International Cooperation and Dean of the Faculty of Medicine – and Prof. Marcin Baranowski, Vice-Dean for Development and Medical Education in English.

Recruitment for the 2026/2027 academic year will begin in just two months, on December 1, 2025.
