The best high schools and technical colleges in the Podlaskie Province were announced today (4 February 2026) during a gala ceremony in the Great Hall of the Branicki Palace in Bialystok. There were no changes on the podium: Princess Anna Jabłonowska High School No. 2 in Bialystok once again took first place among high schools, while the Prof. Janusz Groszkowski Technical College in Bialystok remained the best in the technical school category.

The ceremony was organised jointly by the Medical University of Bialystok and the Perspektywy Educational Foundation, which prepared the National and Regional Ranking of Secondary Schools and Technical Schools for the 28th time. For years, it has been recognised as one of the most reliable and prestigious educational rankings in Poland, providing an important source of information for students, parents and teachers about the level of education in Polish high schools.

'We have gathered here today among people who care: students, teachers, school administrators, government officials – people who care about this city and this region. And we at the Medical University of Bialystok also care: about the best possible education and teaching, not only in the region, but in the country and in this part of Europe in general, because our university has such potential', said the Rector of the Medical University of Bialystok, Prof. Marcin Moniuszko. The Rector reminded everyone that the Medical University of Bialystok offers not only medical studies, but a total of 19 different fields of study (including two new ones this year: bioinformatics and psychology – ed.), which are worth applying for.

Before the diplomas were presented to representatives of the distinguished schools, the Rector of the Medical University of Bialystok also gave a short lecture entitled "Can the human body keep up with the development of civilisation? The lecture can be viewed on YouTube, in a rebroadcast of the event:

Waldemar Siwiński, founder of the Perspektywy Educational Foundation and head of the rankings, also spoke, drawing attention to the idea behind their creation. As he emphasised, young people have enormous potential. However, in order to develop and fully exploit it, an element of healthy competition is also needed. It is this philosophy that has guided the Perspektywy rankings for years.

'Everything starts with education', said Jacek Brzozowski, Governor of Podlaskie Province, 'because without education there is no progress. There is no progress without good education, which is why it is so important that we understand the role and importance of education in the entire functioning of the state.'

The governor also encouraged students to study in Bialystok and Podlaskie Province.

Secondary School No. 2 in Bialystok is the best high school

No surprises on the podium in the ranking of Podlasie high schools. For the ninth time in a row, the Rev. Anna Jabłonowska High School No. 2 took first place in the Regional High School Ranking. The school also took 25th place in the National Ranking.

Dariusz Bossowski, Headmaster of High School No. 2, says this about the school's recipe for success: 'We are the only school in Bialystok that can offer our students the opportunity to take the International Baccalaureate, as well as tools for working with particularly gifted young people, many programmes supporting the development of talents and interests, specially trained and excellent teaching staff, and, on top of that, we are lucky to have wonderful, very talented young people who choose High School No. 2. This is a great honour and responsibility for us – we strive to live up to it.'

‘Electrician’ is the best technical college

For the 16th consecutive year, the Prof. Janusz Groszkowski Technical College of Electrical Engineering in Bialystok was named the best technical college in the province, ranking 17th in the national ranking.

The best of the best – this is the golden sash worn by the Director of the Technical College, Anna Niczyporuk, at the gala. As she pointed out, every year the ranking presents the achievements of different young people, and every year, the next cohort confirms their work, the work of us teachers, and often also of parents, which has been done to achieve such excellent results.
