PhD First year Project: Decoding the mechanism of Ceragenins action against bacterial and fungal cells.

The project aims to provide an in-depth understanding of the molecular mechanism of action of Ceragenins at the gene expression level that will further lead to optimization of therapeutic applications and future design of antimicrobial agents. Various group of genes along with their regulators such as efflux pumps, stress response pathways, outer membrane lipid biosynthesis and mitochondrial ROS stress genes are involved in the microbial defence mechanisms and their expressions are particularly induced by antimicrobial agents. We will focus on studying the relationship between the genotypic and phenotypic properties of the treated organisms.
