    INTERNAL RULES OF TEACHING FOR STUDENTS OF THE ENGLISH DIVISION – GERONTOLOGY

    1. Student attendance is mandatory for all classes (both onsite and online).
    2. Lectures are delivered online (real-time) on the Blackboard platform. Clinical classes and seminars are held at the Department of Geriatrics (SP ZOZ MSWiA in Bialystok, Fabryczna str. 27) according to the course schedule. Students are required to prepare for the classes.

    Students are required to participate in classes with the student group to which they were assigned at the beginning of the academic year.

    Attendance at all classes is mandatory. Students are required to arrive on time for classes. Latecomers may not be allowed to participate in classes, which will be considered an unexcused absence.

    Taking photographs or recording presentations and lectures is prohibited, under penalty of disciplinary action. Photography is not permitted, in particular, for taking photographs of patients. Students are obligated to maintain professional confidentiality. All patient documentation (written or electronic) maintained and created during classes must be free of personal data and other information that could identify the patient.

    1. Before classes begin at the Department of Geriatrics, outerwear must be left in the student locker room at the Department. During practical classes or exercises at the Department of Geriatrics, students are required to change shoes and wear their own, clean protective aprons. Wearing jewellery or watches below the elbow is prohibited. Fingernails should be trimmed short and unpainted. During classes, each student must have an ID badge containing their name and the designation "student," as well as a stethoscope.
    2. Unexcused absences are not permitted.
    3. Absences from classes are excused based on a medical certificate, leave of absence/dean's leave, or a declaration of an unexpected event. The excuse should be submitted to the head of the Department within 7 days of the cessation of the circumstances justifying the absence. Absences from classes can be made up first by attending classes with another group (after consultation with the teaching assistant). If participation in classes with another group is not possible, the absence will be compensated for in the form of individual lessons with the teaching assistant (after scheduling a date).
    4. Lateness of more than 15 minutes is considered an absence.
    5. How to pass the course: attendance at all classes, active participation, and theoretical preparation for classes (knowledge check at the beginning and end of the course – 1 open question).

    Course credit – case study (medical history) – 5 points; and a written test – 10 test questions (5 answers, one correct; 3 points per correct answer) on the last day of the course.

    Passing criterion: achieving 60% of the maximum possible score – 21/35 points.

    Cell phones, notebooks, laptops, and other electronic devices must remain turned off during the assessment. The use of AI (artificial intelligence) is prohibited when creating the medical history.

    1. Retakes: Orally with the head of the Department after scheduling an appointment.
    2. An unexcused absence from the final assessment will result in a score of 0.
    3. Rules for Excusing Absences from final assessments - In the case of an excused absence (sick leave, dean's leave), an appropriate certificate must be submitted to the person responsible for the course within 7 days of the end of the leave period.
    4. Students are informed of the results of their written assignments and the final grade orally, directly from the assistant, at the end of the clinical class block.
    5. Students have the right to review their written assignments in the presence of the head of the unit or a person designated by them. Students have the right to review their written assignments within two weeks of completing the clinical classes, on a date agreed upon with the teaching assistant/ the head of the Department of Geriatrics, and in their presence.
    6. If a student is found to be receiving or using unauthorized assistance, the colloquium/exam will be discontinued, which is equivalent to receiving 0 points/a failing grade with no opportunity for retakes. Detailed provisions regarding unauthorized assistance are contained in the Study Regulations and the Rector's Order.
    7. In matters not covered by these Regulations, the provisions of the Regulations for First-cycle, Second-cycle, and Long-cycle Master's Studies at the Medical University of Bialystok shall apply.
