    University of Pécs (UP), established in 1367, is a 25,000 student university in Hungary with 10 faculties (disciplines). The UP's main disciplinary fields are medicine, engineering and business and economics. With its ten faculties, 29 clinics and patient care institutions, the university offers a broad range of training and degree programmes, with more than 25,000 students and nearly 2,000 teaching and research staff. UP is recognized as the Knowledge Centre of the South Transdanubian Region.

    22 doctoral schools at the university offer doctoral degrees that cover a wide spectrum of scientific field, scholarships and art, ranging from classical humanities, through social sciences, to medical and natural sciences. The University continuously works on expanding and improving its co-operation with other universities and international research institutions. It has already become a part of a large network on different levels.

     

    The Szentágothai Research Centre at UP is a new research institute established in 2012 on the basis of modern international science organizational and management normative. It covers all the aspects of education, research and innovation in the fields of biomedical, natural and environmental sciences. It supplies UP with outstanding research infrastructure and human resources. The infrastructure, instrumentation and expertise of its 22 on-site research groups are the excellent foundation for becoming a well-known, leading research facility in Hungary at the Central Europe, operating within an extensive and successful collaboration network. The Centre features innovative technology and modern laboratories equipped with cutting edge instruments; moreover, it playes a role in the integration of University’s R+D+I strategy. Collaborative projects are pursued at UP in such fields as medical biology, natural sciences and information technology.
